‘Following the success of last year’s 3rd National FDUK Masterclass on the Diabetic Foot in Manchester, we are delighted to announce another ‘hands-on’ programme for 2008. This year’s event aims to provide you with the tools you need to manage diabetic foot ulceration and prevent amputation, and will combine lectures, case studies and interactive demonstrations. Reflecting the fact that diabetic foot care is provided by a series of different healthcare professionals in a range of settings, the masterclass will take a multidisciplinary approach to these core topics, promoting the engagement of all members of the care team.
To assist you and your colleagues to deliver and promote best practice in your locality, the event will provide guidance on assessment and investigations, microbiology, X-ray interpretation, offloading and inpatient care of the diabetic foot. We will also examine diabetic foot disease both from a public health perspective, and from that of the affected individual.
Whatever your role in the diabetic foot team – consultant, GP, nurse, orthotist, podiatrist, or surgeon – and wherever you work – primary, secondary or intermediate care – we at FDUK invite you join us for what promises to be an exciting and innovative day.’
