Technology is already a major part of modern diabetes care. The use of insulin pump therapy and glucose sensors has brought new and amazing insights and solutions to the diffi culties of living with diabetes. The goal now is to optimise the use of technology to improve care still further and to work with industry to develop devices that deliver meaningful clinical benefi t. The purpose of this conference is to discuss the role of technology in diabetes care and to highlight the educational and clinical implications of embracing new technologies both now and for the future. Not only will we be examining the clinical evidence for the usefulness of technologies in diabetes care, we will also be offering advice and guidance on the practical issues relating to their use.
