The 1st Scottish Conference of the Primary Care Diabetes Society - Tackling the scourge of Scotland: Obesity & type 2 diabetes in primary care
26th November 2008 - 26th November 2008
Crowne Plaza Glasgow
Congress Road
Glasgow

The first Primary Care Diabetes Society (PCDS) Scottish event will take place in Glasgow on 26 November 2008. With its focus on 'the scourge of Scotland - obesity, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes', this conference will examine general diabetes challenges from a very Scottish perspective. Organised by the PCDS - the only association solely committed to the needs of primary care diabetes - the event will use state-of-the-art lectures, clinical updates and masterclasses to provide practical guidance to healthcare professionals in confronting present and future therapeutic and political issues that impact directly on everyday practice. As Scottish representative on the PCDS, I believe this conference provides us with a genuine opportunity to come together to discuss the key issues that affect us day to day and to recognise that despite so many of the challenges associated with diabetes being universal, the differences in health systems and even perhaps cultures, means that some issues are specific to Scotland and deserve to be treated as such. I very much look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to the first PCDS event north of the Border.

Richard Quigley, GP & Scottish Representative on the Primary Care Diabetes Society (PCDS)
